Nowadays science is developing day by day and new technologies are being invented. Screen touch technology is one of them, in all the smartphones that are made nowadays, this technology is used instead of the keyboard. You must have seen touch technology mostly on mobile phones, smart watches, laptop computers and ATM machines etc.
The special feature of this technology is that to do any work only the surface of the device has to be touched. We are using touch screens in daily life, but most people don't know how screen touch technology works. If you also want to know how a smartphone touch screen works, then you read this article completely because in this article I have told you in very easy words how our phone touch screen works.
WHAT IS TOUCH SCREEN TECHNOLOGY
A touch screen is an electronic visual display that can be controlled by a person with the touch of their finger. To put the same thing in simple words, a touch screen is a screen that starts working only by touching or in which work can be done by touching a surface instead of pressing a button to work, it is called touchscreen.
Touch screen is like an input device in which the user touches any picture or words on it to interact with the mobile, which creates pressure on that touch area and the mobile screen works according to that pressure.
How a mobile touch screen works
There are many types of screen touch technology such as resistive, capacitive, infrared, surface wave. Most of the two screen touch technology is used in smartphones, in which the first is a resistive touch screen and the second is a capacitive touch screen
resistive touch screen:
Resistive touch screen consists of 2 layers, the first is the resistive layer and second is the conductive layer. There are small dots between these two layers which keep these two layers apart from each other. The top layer of resistive screen is very flexible which is made of polythene and the second layer is very hard which is made with the help of glass, both these layers are connected to the screen controller with the help of insulating space dot
Electric current flows in the conductive layer all the time, when we touch the resistive touch screen, the area on which the resistive layer gets stressed, that area touches with the conducting layer, the current changes at the point detects where the touch has occurred, after which this information is sent to the controller, then the display screen responds to the touch.
Older phones used resistive touch technology, which used to be the best technology at the time but were slow and not very responsive. Nowadays resistive touchscreens are mostly used in ATM machines. Its specialty is that the outside temperature does not make any difference to it because a protective seat is installed on the top layer of this screen.
capacitive touch screen:
Unlike resistive touchscreens, capacitance screens do not use the pressure of your finger to flow electricity. This screen works with any object that stores electric charge. Human body is a good conductor of electricity, this means that electric current flows easily in our body and we can give electric current and also take electric current.
Capacitive touch screen panels are coated with material that stores electric charges Capacitive touch screen senses the electricity generated inside a person, it is made of glass on top and made of conductive material from inside. Whenever we touch on the screen of the device, a small electric charge is generated from our finger at the touch point, there are controllers around the screen panel which measure the change in electric charge where touched. Then the display works according to touch.
Capacitive screen works only on touch of fingers, if we touch the screen by wearing cloth or plastic gloves then it will not work Because the touch of our fingers gives out electric charge, but when we touch the screen by wearing clothes or polythene gloves, then the electric charge does not flow on the screen due to the gloves.
Nowadays capacitive touchscreen is being used more in mobile phones because it is much faster and responsive than resistive screen. Smartphones that nowadays use capacitive touchscreen screens are very advanced
Difference Between Resistive And Capacitive Screen
If we compare between resistive and capacitive screen, then capacity screen is considered more better because resistive screen resists your touch and to do its work, touch has to be done by applying a little force on the screen only then that device works whereas capacitive The screen is designed in such a way that it works only with your touch.
Capacitive screens work much faster than resistive screens, that's why right now capacitive screens are being used mainly in smartphones, tablets and other devices, resistive screens are being used in ATM machines, supermarkets etc.
HOW DISCOVERED TOUCH SCREEN TECHNOLOGY
E.A Johnson first told his idea about the touch screen in 1960, after which many experiments were also done about this technology. Touch screen technology was launched for the first time in 1970 by Frank beck and Bent stumpe, after which there was continuous progress in touch screen technology. Touchscreen has been in use since the last many years but nowadays advanced touch screen technology is being used.
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Resistive And Capacitive Screens
Resistive Screen :
The biggest disadvantage of a resistive touch screen is that this screen does not support multi touch, if we do multi touch on the device which has a resistive screen then that device will get confused where the touch is done. There is no effect of outside temperature on the resistive screen because there is a protective sheet on its top layer which prevents it from getting damaged by outside temperature, this is the biggest advantage of resistive this screen.
Capacitive Screen :
The biggest feature of capacitive screens is that this screen supports multi touch. Capacitive screen is much faster and responsive than resistive screen. The top surface of the capacitive touch screen is made of glass which is more prone to breakage, to protect the screen it needs to be covered with tempered glass this is also a disadvantage of capacitive screen
So I hope that after reading this article you must have understood well that how mobile touch screen works, the most capacitive touch screen technology and resistive touch screen technology is used in mobile so I have told you here Explained in detail these two touch technology
