Blackheads are a bane for us. The pesky little blackheads and whiteheads pop up on our nose and chin and often look so unsightly. While going to the salon for frequent cleanups isn’t possible, most of us resort to using pore strips. Biore pore strips are undoubtedly the most popular and effective ones in the market which draw out gunk from the nose and chin, giving you smooth clean skin. But, if you don’t use it right, you may end up wasting strips without really getting the job done. In this post, I will talk about the best way to use and remove Biore pore strips.
Step 1:
Remove all your makeup and creams from your facial skin. It is best to start with a clean skin, as that way you won’t have anything clogging your pores from the surface. You can use a makeup remover wipe and wash your face with a foaming cleanser.
Step 2:
Prep up your skin by steaming it. You can use a bowl of hot water and place your face as close to it as possible without risking spillage on you. If you can’t steam it well, use a cotton ball dipped in boiling water and gently apply it over the areas you want to use the strips on. You can even see as your pores open up and grow larger.
Step 3:
Wash the nose or chin area with a cleanser. Make sure that the cleanser is not moisturizing, so you can go for anything like Garnier White Face Wash or Himalaya Oil Control Lemon Face Wash which can remove all traces of oil. A squeaky clean nose and chin help to effectively remove deep rooted impurities.
Step 4:
Apply a thick layer of Bentonite clay on to your nose. You can also use Multani Mitti for this purpose. Coat it evenly and make sure you have every bit of the area covered. Allow it to dry for 20 minutes or so. You can notice tiny oil dots forming on your nose and the clay cracking up.
Step 5:
Open the nose pore strip and keep it ready, while you wash off the clay with warm water. It’s difficult to open the pore strips with wet hands so do it before washing off the clay.
Step 6:
Apply the pore strip firmly onto the nose. Try to apply slight pressure so that the adhesion occurs well, as this helps the blackheads really stick to the strip.
Step 7:
Let the strip dry completely. On drying, it becomes stiff, crisp and wafer type, so you can easily understand if it’s time to pull it out yet.
Step 8:
Gently hold the outer corners of the strip and begin pulling it off. Peel slowly, so that you don’t have broken capillaries or halves blackheads. It might be slightly painful, but I feel it’s worth the pain.
Step 9:
Once you have removed the strip, you might find some residue or even some blackheads which have been broken. The best way to remove them is to use a gentle scrub. Don’t rub it hard on your skin and gently massage for 30 seconds to buff away the remaining stuff. Rinse with cold water as it helps to close the pores.
Step 10:
Apply a toner or astringent. Witch hazel is great as it helps to keep your pores clean and shrunken. Pat a light moisturizer.
Word of caution:
• Don’t use pore strips frequently. Once weekly or fortnightly is sufficient.
• Don’t forget to use a toner or astringent to close your pores.
• Always sanitize your hands before doing anything as it will prevent skin infections.
