Becky G's "Can't Stop Dancing" - Song Review

When she's not getting endorsed by Latin queen Jennifer Lopez, opening for Katy Perry on a world tour or being named an "influential teen" by TIME, 17-year-old Becky G is crafting infectious pop hooks like those found on her recent Top 20 hit "Shower", which peaked at number 16. For the follow up to her adorable sleeper hit, the young artist is stepping into urban/dance territory with the inescapable "Can't Stop Dancing", a sure fire pop winner.

While her last effort was insanely addictive, in a teenage love affair sort of way, the new "Can't Stop Dancing" shows moderate and natural signs of maturity from the young rapper. Set to a reggae-like background beat, Becky G sings of living in the moment with no fear or regrets. "I won't stop you, no I like it there, you can even go further babe, cause nothing's forbidden," she seductively sings on one of the semi-adult verses of the guitar-driven track.

The new single has everything it needs to become a future hit, it just needs to be properly promoted. You have an intriguing earworm of a beat, lyrics that border the line between love and lust, and a young, likable personality that can sell the material. Even though Dr. Luke is behind the infectious offering (we will look past his Ke$ha drama for just one second), it still sounds fresh, instead of tried and boring.

"Can't Stop Dancing" is the perfect follow up single for Becky G. Usually known for her impressive rap skills, the artist is showing fans and critics that she can actually carry a proper tune and hit rather difficult notes while still sounding like she is having fun as a teenage should. The song demands multiple plays and will do great once serviced to radio. Congrats Becky!
